Design
Our handrails are designed to enable users to safely ascend or descend a stairway, ramp, or walkway. Working closely with our customers, we suggest the most appropriate design to maximise safety, in keeping with the visual appearance of the project. Materials

The choice of material is influenced by the position of the handrail – whether interior or exterior – and its potential exposure to the elements. We usually recommend a tubular steel construction using 40 mm to 50 mm steel sheets. This strikes the perfect balance between high tensile strength, good load-bearing capacity and light weight.

Finishes
Many metal handrails benefit from surface treatment to improve appearance and resist corrosion. We offer a range of powder coatings, as well as hot zinc spray treatment and galvanisation to improve the strength and durability of the metal. Gleaming stainless steel finishes are also available.
Engineering Standards
All our handrails comply with BS 6180-2011 (guardrails and balustrades) and BS 6399/1-1996 (load bearing). Each item is CE marked to demonstrate compliance with the EU technical regulations for steel. We undertake CE marking for all steel fabrications, not just weight bearing components.
